Implications of the Work of Vygotsky or Piaget for Research in the Field of Learning Sciences

Abstract

Learning sciences is an interdisciplinary field of study that aims to explore the nature and processes of human learning. Vygotsky and Piaget are important theorists in the field of learning sciences and their theories have had a profound impact on the field of learning sciences. This paper will introduce the definition, origin, and goals of learning sciences and delve into the impact of Piaget's and Vygotsky's theories on the field of learning sciences. In addition, this paper will present constructivism and its application to math and science education, as well as the contributions of Piaget's experimental research to the field of learning sciences. Finally, the paper will summarize the contributions and limitations of Piaget's and Vygotsky's theories to the field of learning sciences and point out directions for future research.
