Herdsmen moving into cities: A survey on the employment of relocated residents of Junggar community in Toli County, Xinjiang for poverty alleviation

Abstract

Junggar Community in Toli County, Xinjiang is the largest relocation poverty alleviation community in the county. It is adjacent to Karamay City. Most of the herdsmen in this community are employed in Karamay City. The article discusses two main issues: the career choices of herdsmen in relocation poverty alleviation communities in Junggar communities and the main factors affecting employment, and further analyzes the great significance of moving to cities and towns for Xinjiang’s nomadic society.
