Abstract

Fitzgerald is one of the most influential writers in the 1920s and 1930s.His representative novel The Great Gatsby is known as the greatest American literary work of the twentieth century. The writing is exquisite and the story is delicate and tortuous. This novel deeply depicts the unmet desire under the cover of wealth and success, represents the theme of the disillusionment of the "American Dream", and at the same time incisively and vividly shows Fitzgerald's outstanding talent and writing skills. There is often a strong temperament and style of poet and dreamer in Fitzgerald's novels. His observation of the world is exquisite and poetic, and he can often find a touching beauty in ordinary scenes. The poetry of Fitzgerald's novels does not lie in the superficial poetic language, but in his whole way of feeling is poetic, and he has the kind of abstract ability that a great poet can have. Connecting the theme of The Great Gatsby, this paper discusses the novel from the perspective of literary stylistics. This paper is divided into three parts.
