Abstract

University laboratories are vital for teaching and research in science and technology, and are crucial for sustainable development. Chemistry labs are key for biotechnology students, using various regulated chemicals for experiments, some of which can produce hazardous waste. This paper uses a biotechnology chemistry lab as a case study to analyze hazardous waste characteristics and discusses its recycling and treatment principles. Furthermore, it addresses the current challenges associated with the disposal of chemical experimental waste by proposing appropriate solutions and management strategies. The aim is to offer a theoretical foundation and practical guidance for the standardized treatment of laboratory waste, thereby serving as a reference for chemical laboratories encountering similar issues.
