Abstract

The research explored the effects of positive psychological group counseling designed based on the PERMA model of positive psychology. Taking 1,500 students from a higher vocational college in Guangdong as the research object, they were randomly divided into an experimental group and a control group. The students in the experimental group were trained in a positive psychological group counseling course. Each training lasted three hours and a total of eight sessions. The control group of students do not accept any intervention. After quantitative and qualitative analysis, the study found that positive psychological group counseling can improve students’ positive emotions, happiness, life satisfaction, sense of life meaningfulness and positive coping styles, and reduce the negative coping styles of individuals. It also can maintain the individual's gratitude level, but it has no significant effect on reducing the individual's negative emotions.
