This thesis aims to analyze the change of Thomas Cromwell’s ethical identity--from blacksmith’s son to Baron Cromwell to reveal the reason and process of the formation of ethical identity, and the obligations and responsibilities his ethical identity requires. In addition, this thesis will also analyze the function of the language which Wolsey, Henry VIII and other people use to the construction of Cromwell’s ethical identity.
