Abstract

Based on panel data from 31 Chinese provinces from 2011 to 2020, this study empirically analyzes the mediating effects of agricultural structure and agricultural operation scale on the impact of digital inclusive finance on agricultural carbon emissions from the perspective of spatial overflow. The research findings indicate that digital inclusive finance can enhance agricultural carbon emissions by promoting the growth of neighboring provinces' agricultural structure and agricultural operation scale. The issue of greenhouse effect caused by excessive emissions of greenhouse gases, including carbon dioxide, has become increasingly prominent and is a global challenge. Agriculture is one of the significant sources of greenhouse gas emissions, with data from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) indicating that 24% of global GHG emissions come from the agricultural sector. Furthermore, according to various studies, since the 18th century, the concentration of methane (CH4) in the atmosphere has increased by more than twofold, with approximately 70% of this increase attributed to human activities such as rice cultivation and biomass burning.
