Abstract

Expansive soil is a type of clayey soil with a unique expansion structure, which exhibits two deformation characteristics: significant water absorption and expansion, and water loss and contraction. This soil type often poses a serious threat to engineering construction. Filling piles offer several advantages, including wide adaptability, convenient construction, no vibration, and no crowding. Therefore, it is a safe and reliable method for dealing with expansive soil foundations. This paper summarises the application and research progress of filling piles in expansive land foundation, as well as the shortcomings of the existing research, to provide a theoretical basis for subsequent research.
