This study aims to deeply analyze the current situation of the ability of physical education and health teachers at Hainan Vocational Education University to serve the local economy from the perspective of regional development, and explore effective improvement strategies to promote the close integration of education and economy. I will use the literature research method to sort out the relevant theoretical basis, collect data on the current status of teachers' abilities and local economic needs through questionnaire survey and interview methods, and verify the feasibility of the strategy through the case analysis method. Research has found that current physical education and health teachers at Hainan University have problems such as insufficient professional adaptability, lack of practical experience, and poor cooperation channels in serving the local economy. To this end, the researcher proposes improvement strategies such as optimizing the curriculum system, strengthening practical teaching, and building cooperation platforms, and verifies them through the cooperation between a university in Hainan and a local sports enterprise. The results indicate that these strategies help enhance teachers' ability to serve the local economy, provide strong talent support and intellectual guarantee for the development of Hainan's regional economy, and also provide useful references for vocational education teachers in other regions to serve the local economy.
