With the continuous development of physical education objectives in colleges and the growing diversity of student needs, optimizing the structure of basketball teaching—an inherently team-based sport—has become particularly important. This paper conducts an in-depth study from three perspectives: the current state of basketball instruction in colleges, the theoretical foundation for structural optimization, and implementation strategies. By analyzing the goals and significance of college basketball education, the paper emphasizes that basketball instruction goes beyond technical skill training; it also focuses on enhancing students’ physical and mental health, teamwork capabilities, and psychological resilience. Integrating instructional content, methods, and technological innovation, the study explores how data support and technical tools can improve the scientific and personalized aspects of basketball teaching. The alignment of teaching goals with evaluation systems, interdisciplinary integration within structural optimization, and the development of teaching faculty are also discussed, providing both theoretical foundations and practical guidance for optimizing the structure of basketball instruction. The research indicates that future college basketball education will evolve toward personalization, technological integration, and systematization, aiming to offer new ideas and practical solutions for reform and innovation in basketball teaching.
