Abstract

In this paper, the relationship between several factors and team points is estimated. Specifically, the number of wins and goals are proportional to the team points of the season, but pass%, possession% and shots per game have less significance. We research it through simple linear regression, multiple linear regression, t-test and p test. The data are from La Liga, collected from mainly two sources: www.whoscored.com [1] and www.transfermarkt.com [2]. After reading this paper, people will be familiar with the relationship on the large broad. However, this paper has limitations. It cannot be used when emergencies happen. Thus, further research, like influence of covid-19, VAR(visual assistant referee) and weather, need to be discussed in the future.
