As the importance of vocational education continues to rise in China, there is a need of excellent teachers for the vocational education who meet the requirements. This article takes the automation major of Jilin Engineering Normal University as an example and elaborates the innovation and practice of the practical teaching system of excellent vocational education teacher training. It includes the professional orientation, history and characteristic advantages of the major, the main initiatives and effectiveness of the reform of the major, the main initiatives and effectiveness of the construction of the teaching team and the basic teaching organization, the main initiatives and effectiveness of the construction of the professional teaching quality assurance system, the results of the tracking survey and external evaluation of the training quality of graduates, and the main ideas and initiatives for the next step of promoting the construction and reform of the major. The research results provide references for the construction of teaching reform of related majors.
