Adding the concept of garden art design to urban landscape planning can green the environment, meet people's requirements for air quality, and have a certain ornamental effect. This article aims to study the role of garden art design in urban landscape design. This paper adopts methods of investigation and research, multiple sets of case analysis, extensive and comprehensive questionnaires, etc. to analyze and study the current status of garden art design in urban landscape planning and the role of garden art design in urban landscape planning. The impact of urban landscape design, the overall city appearance, the livability and the comfort of residents, as well as the impact on garden art design in the overall environment of urban landscape design. Experimental data shows that modern gardens do not better combine classical art, modern art, and ecological environment, and garden art design has not been well integrated into modern urban landscape planning. Moreover, the garden art design has a good influence on the urban landscape design, the overall city appearance, the livability and the residents' comfort level. This shows that garden art design as an indispensable category of urban landscape design has played an important role in urban landscape design.
