Abstract

Carbon dioxide sequestration by forests and their products is becoming a non-negligible part of climate change mitigation, as climate change impacts on ecosystems. In this thesis, the carbon sequestration model and forest management decision model are established to solve the problem of realizing the optimal comprehensive value of forest, TOPSIS are used to solve the problem. We analyze carbon dioxide sequestration from adult trees, newly planted trees and forest products to establish a carbon sequestration model, firstly. Then we establish logistic model to give the optimal intermediate cutting period and felling quantity. Finally, we choose the Ziwuling forest in China's Gansu Province, selecting 13 kinds of main trees for analysis. We determine that total carbon sequestration was 7.1361 million tons, and the optimal intermediate cutting period was 5 years. Using TOPSIS, it is concluded that the largest cutting amount of all kinds of trees is broadleaf mixed.
