Abstract

Since Barnett, a British scholar, first used the term “restorative justice” to describe the specific principles that should be followed for reconciliation between offenders and victims, the term had been given more connotations by scholars. As it is an emerging model of crime treatment and practice patterns vary from country to country around the world, there is not yet a widely accepted definition of restorative justice. This paper aims to extract the “conventionality” of restorative justice through a comparative study of the concepts related to restorative justice from different perspectives, to sort out the hard core of the concept definition of restorative justice, and to play a certain role in understanding the concept definition of restorative justice.
