Comparative analysis of English synonyms based on COCA corpus: Taking "value, worth, merit" as an example

Abstract

Vocabulary has always been the most important part of foreign language learning, and the analysis of near-synonyms has always been the most difficult part of English learning. In this article, the author uses the COCA corpus to analyze the synonyms of value, worth, and merit, mainly from the aspects of domain, semantic rhyme, and collocation. The differences in each of the three terms are identified and conclusions are drawn to inform the use of the three terms.
