Abstract

Based on “Three-Wide Education” philosophy, English public speaking, as an important practical means to cultivate college students’ cross-cultural public communication skills, requires them to uphold national consciousness, tell good Chinese stories, and show cultural confidence in their speeches. Guided by this concept, this paper describes the poor performance of college students in telling good Chinese stories and showing cultural confidence through English public speaking, analyzes the reasons for their poor performance, and finally proposes strategies for improving their performance.
