The 31st Universiade plays a driving role in the economic development of Chengdu, which enhances the economic vitality of the city and promotes the urban construction. This paper analyzes and discusses from five aspects, and finds that the Universiade has brought economic growth to Chengdu, promoted the development and upgrading of Chengdu's industrial structure, and held the Universiade will bring a lot of resources to the development of Chengdu, which can also improve the city image and build the city brand, and play a role in publicity and promotion, but at the same time, it will bring some negative effects. Based on these economic benefits, this paper puts forward the countermeasures and suggestions for large-scale sports events to promote the urban economic development, hoping to have a reference significance for other cities to hold large-scale sports events in the future.
