A brief analysis of the self-therapy documentary

Abstract

To analyze the self-therapy documentary, the thesis firstly introduces the knowledge of trauma and the healing process based on the theory of psychoanalyst Lacan, which laid the theoretical foundation for the documentary. Then it tracks the originate of documentary and the development of self-therapy film, to see the growth of this subtype film from the prototype. To illustrate the style of the self-healing documentary more, there are two film examples listed to detailed interpretate the making of therapeutic film.
