Abstract

Diagnostics of Traditional Chinese Medicine is a subject that serves as a bridge between the basic theories of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and the clinical departments of TCM. It is an important diagnostic basis for studying how to diagnose diseases and differentiate syndromes through the basic theories and methods of TCM, an important part of TCM, and an important link for the overseas spread of TCM culture. Based on the perspective of “différance” in deconstruction, in this paper, the English version of the textbook Diagnostics of Traditional Chinese Medicine translated by Li Zhaoguo and Bao Bai is compared with those translated by Han Chouping by taking examples from the “diagnostic methods” and “differentiation of syndrome” sections of Diagnostics of Traditional Chinese Medicine to discuss and explore the translation methods of different translators. In this way, this paper can provide a new perspective for the study of TCM terminology translation and promote the overseas dissemination and development of TCM culture.
