Abstract

The Hainan tropical rainforest is the predominant traditional habitat of the Li ethnic group. The traditional settlement of Li ethnic group is the product of a specific historical environment, which bears the distinctive survival feelings of the people of Li ethnic group, with abundant material culture relics and non-material cultural values, including historical and cultural values, architectural sci-tech values, humanistic and artistic values, and tourism economic values. Under the background of applying for the worldwide "Double Heritage" project, this paper conducted comprehensive and systematic research on the historical culture, original ecological environment, housing and architecture, and surrounding tourism environment of the traditional settlement of the Hainan Li ethnic group, so as to adequately explore its value and put forth protection as well as tourism transformation strategies.
