The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is a short story written by the American writer Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald in the 1920s. The short story tells the absurd life of Benjamin Button, who was born as an old man and grew up younger and younger. Adapted from the story, the film of the same name directed by David Fincher was released in 2008. In 2009, the film won three awards and many nominations at the 81st Academy Awards. Although there are certain differences in the plot between the story and the film, the common themes that both art forms want to present and the respective ones are worthy of in-depth exploration. Therefore, this paper attempts to analyze the themes of the masterpiece through the contrast of the two art forms.
