As an important branch in the field of Artificial Intelligence, Generative artificial intelligence (Generative AI) has the remarkable characteristics of surpassing traditional interactive artificial intelligence. Its application in the field of education has attracted wide attention and discussion. This paper reviews the development of GAI, discusses its possible impact on college English education, analyses the opportunities and challenges of the application of generative AI in college English teaching, and puts forward the possible application path of generative AI in college English teaching.
