With the continuous deepening of the concept of quality-oriented education in China and the promotion and implementation of the national fitness program, new value has been bestowed upon college physical education, and the teaching connotation has become increasingly rich, thereby presenting new requirements for college physical education. In the context of comprehensive sports, the task of college physical education should not be limited to improving students' physical fitness; instead, multiple measures should be taken to develop students' mental and intellectual abilities, guide students to establish correct values, and cultivate the awareness of voluntary exercise. Baseball and softball is one of the popular sports among college students. Its teaching activities can well inherit advanced sports science and technology knowledge and promote the comprehensive development of college students' sports abilities. However, despite the great potential for the development of baseball and softball in colleges and universities, many challenges are still faced in the actual teaching process. Therefore, in-depth exploration of the existing problems in college baseball and softball teaching and the proposal of targeted innovative strategies are of great practical significance and theoretical value for promoting the sustainable development of baseball and softball in colleges and universities.
