Abstract

The dissemination of European art in the northwest region of China was a phenomenon that emerged with the changes in the political and economic landscape of the Eurasian continent, playing a good role in the development of art work in the local area. Combining the influence of religion, history, art, education, and other aspects on the research object, this paper discusses the dissemination factors of European art in the northwest region of China from four aspects: religious dissemination, foreign exploration activities, art education reform, and the assistance of Chinese midland painters to Xinjiang. Then I proposes another possibility for the recognized "Western learning spreading eastward" in the Chinese academic community.
