In recent years, the effectiveness of college English teaching has continuously aroused people's thinking. Traditional teaching of Comprehensive English is no exception in this aspect. Observation of class setting and teaching materials leave the impression that deep thinking and varieties of teaching methods and activities are in great need for in a large extent, the organizational mode of English teaching in universities is single and simple, lacking deep learning and training high-level thinking abilities. Based on the basic observation of teaching Comprehensive English, and enlightened by the universally applicable deep learning theory, this article constructed three learning stages for comprehensive English based on the field of deep learning: pre class, in class, and post class. The three basic and indispensable parts of teaching process need to be revised and upgraded. Thus, online teaching programme, especially the SPOT (Small Private Online Course) platform provided the researchers new inspirations regarding Comprehensive English teaching. Through this platform, new class design and class organizational modes as well as materials which are in an instant upgrading mode are provided. Meanwhile, the student data was collected to verify testing effectiveness. With relevant research tools, the data analysis results of SPOC teaching platform showed that the comprehensive quality of students in thematic research, classroom demonstrations, and other aspects was 10% higher than that of regular teaching, and most students successfully completed team work.
