The chair is the most basic of all human household objects, ordinary but extraordinary, and it has been loved and redesigned by countless masters over the past century. This paper first discusses the categorization of seats in terms of both raw materials and functions, then summarizes several classic examples of modern chair design and analyses them from an ergonomic perspective.
