Abstract

This study investigates the influence of calligraphy art on interested learners within higher vocational education, exploring motivations, transformative impacts, and effective pedagogical strategies. The research employs a qualitative design, analyzing data from interviews and focus group discussions with 12 learners and 15 instructors. Key findings reveal that learners are primarily motivated by desires to cultivate patience, precision, and focus; connect with cultural heritage; and engage in artistic expression. The study highlights calligraphy’s dual function as a medium for cultural preservation and a catalyst for cognitive, emotional, and artistic development. Recommendations include institutional promotion of calligraphy in wellness initiatives, curriculum innovation, and community-based cultural programs to enhance accessibility and relevance.
