This study explores, through a case analysis, the clinical efficacy and mechanisms of the Huangdi Nine Needles therapy in treating thromboangiitis obliterans (also known as Buerger’s disease). For this study, a 45-year-old male patient was selected, with a total treatment duration of 8 months, carried out during the following periods: December 19-25, 2021; January 19-23, 2022; February 18-22, 2022; March 19-23, 2022; and August 23, 2022. The treatment included use of the Large Needle, Round Sharp Needle, and Triple Therapy with Filiform Needles, combined with symptom evaluation and B-ultrasound examination for comprehensive assessment. Results showed that the patient’s intermittent claudication distance improved from 100 meters to normal walking capacity. The findings suggest that the Nine Needles therapy can improve limb ischemia through the synergistic effects of “warming and unblocking the meridians, dispelling stasis and clearing heat, and promoting Qi circulation through the channels.” Its mechanism may be related to regulating microcirculation and reducing hypercoagulability of the blood. This study provides practical evidence for the use of traditional Chinese needling methods in treating vascular diseases, though larger sample sizes are needed to further validate its efficacy.
