Abstract

The development level of a country's foreign transportation will directly affect the scale and circulation efficiency of its import and export commodities. A modern international transportation system will lay a solid foundation for China to enhance its international trade competitiveness. Based on the data from the National Bureau of Statistics of China and the China Communications Yearbook from 1979 to 2016, this paper selects civil aviation international routes, pipeline oil (gas) mileage, coastal construction investment, and transportation fixed asset investment as the influencing factors of China’s total import and export trade. The Almon estimation method constructs the measurement model. The results show that coastal construction investment has the greatest stimulus effect on China's international trade, and the impact of port berths on import and export commodities is lagging. The development of air transportation and pipeline transportation will rapidly promote the expansion of trade in the short term.
