A Power Field: Internal Colonialism in Toni Morrison’s Paradise

By exploring internal colonialism in Paradise, this essay argues that black people who attempt to build a black heavenly home without racial discrimination are entrapped into another variant of racism, internal colonialism which is achieved through the control of the power of discourse and the oppression from the aspects of skin politics and economic exploitation, transforming the town of Ruby to a power field.
