The process of Tangshan Engineering and Mining College Participated in the 1910 Nanyang Exposition in the Late Qing Dynasty

Abstract

The holding of the 1910 Nanyang Exposition is closely related to the innovation and development of Chinese society since the Self-Strengthening Movement, the trade war thought, industry trends, and the development of the capitalist economy. It was both the measure and result of Qingmoxinzheng for industry and commerce. As a representative of the new school, Tangshan Engineering and Mining CollegeJust over a decade after its founding, was able to compete in a world class fair with student assignments and gained the golden medal, all these proved the success of the educational reform in the late Qing dynasty. The combination of them fully demonstrates the positive role of the Qingmoxinzheng in promoting China’s modernization.
