The continuation task is a combination of reading and writing, where students are required to write a composition which is highly consistent with the original text in terms of language, structure, plot and so on. This type of exercise is a comprehensive carrier to test students' ability of comprehension , expression and innovative thinking. Based on the analysis of related theories of the continuation task, this paper takes the English test of the National College Entrance Examination in China in July 2020 as an example to explore how teachers guide students to finish the continuation task in high quality. The purpose of this paper is to provide an effective reference for future English teaching in continuation task.
