Abstract

The debate between communitarianism and liberalism constitutes the main line of contemporary political philosophy. The challenges of communitarianism are mainly reflected in three aspects. First, communitarianism challenges the liberal “individual” with “community”. Second, communitarianism challenges the “justice” of liberalism with the "common good". Third, communitarianism uses “historicism” to challenge liberal “universalism”. In essence, individuals and societies coexist and construct each other in reality.
