Ideological and political education is an important part of higher education, which aims to cultivate students’ correct world outlook, outlook on life and values, improve students’ ideological quality and moral level, and enhance students’ sense of social responsibility and civic awareness. This paper explores the impact of ideological and political education on students’ personal development and social responsibility, as well as the challenges and countermeasures of ideological and political education, by using methods such as literature review, questionnaire survey and data analysis. The research results show that ideological and political education has a positive effect on students’ personal development and social responsibility, but there are also some shortcomings and difficulties, which need to be further strengthened and improved.
