An Analysis of Su Hanchen's A Hundred Sons in Spring

Abstract

The social environment of the Song Dynasty was relatively stable, and there were many unprecedented prosperity. Folk painting, court painting, and scholar-official painting were divided into different schools. As a painter of Xuanhe Painting Academy in Song Dynasty, Su Hanchen is good at painting children's works. He can accurately grasp the psychological activities of children in the process of playing, and depict them vividly. "A Hundred Sons in Spring" is one of Su Hanchen's representative works, which is quite distinctive. This article will analyze the "Hundred Sons in Spring" from the aspects of composition, lines, colors, etc., and discuss the artistic characteristics of the work.
