Difficulties and Countermeasures of Academy System Reform under the Background of "Three Whole Education"

Abstract

The academy system is an ancient traditional education model, and the student community is a new ideological education field of modern universities. How to integrate the ancient academy system tradition into the construction of modern university communities has become an important link to improve the governance system and governance ability of modern universities. Theories such as "three-whole education", "community education", "free and comprehensive development of people" and "the return of the way of university" have provided the historical background and theoretical origin for the reform of the academy system. However, in the process of promoting the construction of the academy system, there are still some problems, such as insufficient attention to community education, separated emphasis on academy and college, and lack of humanistic spirit in universities. This paper attempts to explore the long-term mechanism of college system reform from three aspects: double-track system, tutorial system and liberal arts system. In April 2020, eight departments such as the Ministry of Education issued the Opinions on Accelerating the Construction of the Ideological and Political Work System in Colleges and Universities (Education, Ideology and Politics (2020) No. 1), which stated: "Promote the construction of 'one-site' student communities. Relying on the academy, dormitory and other part of student living zone, we will explore the reform of student organization form, management mode and service mechanism, promote the Party and league organizations, administrative departments and service units to enter the zones and carry out their work, so as to push the leadership, management, service and ideological and political forces of the university and college to the front line of education management and service for students. The zone will be built into an educational and life garden that integrates students' ideological education, teacher-student exchanges, cultural activities and life services."  On September 17, 2020, the General Secretary visited Yuelu Academy to further clarify the inheritance and innovation of the traditional Chinese academy system. Community is not only a place for college students to live, but also an important place to train young people to grow up. Community plays an increasingly important role in strengthening campus management, serving students' life, and promoting the reform and development of colleges and universities.
